Fifty years ago, South Australia led the way. In 1975, we became the first state in Australia to decriminalise homosexuality. It was a moment that changed lives—a moment that set the course for equality, dignity, and the right to simply exist without fear.
Now, half a century later, we come together at the South Australian Pride Gala to honour that fight, celebrate how far we’ve come, and reaffirm that the work is not yet done.
📅 Friday, 27 June 2025
📍 Adelaide Festival Centre – Banquet Room
⏰ Doors open at 6 PM
This is more than just an event—it’s a testament to our resilience, our pride, and our community. Fifty years ago, brave activists stood up and demanded change. Today, we celebrate in their honour while carrying their legacy forward.
A Night of Recognition, Connection, and Celebration
As the doors open at 6 PM, you’ll step into an evening filled with wonder and connection. You will be treated to a two-course meal and a complimentary drink on arrival, setting the perfect tone for an unforgettable night. For those aged 18 and over, a fully stocked bar will offer a variety of drinks available for purchase throughout the evening.
The Banquet Room will come alive with pride, passion, and purpose as the community gathers to share stories, laughter, and inspiration. This is more than just a night out—it’s a powerful reminder of who we are and how far we’ve come.
The South Australian Pride Awards
At the heart of the evening are the South Australian Pride Awards. These awards don’t just recognise achievements—they tell the stories of our community’s strength, creativity, and spirit. This year’s categories include:
🏆 Community Champion Award – Celebrating leaders who inspire and uplift.
🎭 Performer of the Year – Honouring the artists who move us.
🙌 Volunteer of the Year – Recognising the selfless contributions that make change possible.
🏢 Employer of the Year – Highlighting workplaces that prioritise inclusion and equality.
💙 Sport, Health and Wellbeing Award – Honouring those driving LGBTQIA+ inclusion in sport or improving community health and wellbeing.
🎉 Event of the Year – Recognising events that bring us together in celebration.
🖤💛❤️ First Nations Person of the Year – Paying tribute to exceptional First Nations LGBTQIA+ individuals.
Honouring Our Trailblazers: The South Australian Pride Hall of Fame
The South Australian Pride Hall of Fame returns to pay tribute to the icons who paved the way. Last year, Ian Purcell AM and Vonni were inducted for their groundbreaking contributions to our community. This year’s inductees will be announced soon, and their legacies will leave you inspired and humbled.
Why This Night Matters
For the elders who lived through the fight.
For the young people discovering their place in this community.
For those who still struggle for acceptance in their own homes.
For the ones who are no longer here to see how far we’ve come.
We gather in their memory. We gather in their honour. And we gather because we are still here, still fighting, still thriving.
Be Part of History
This all-ages event is for everyone. Whether you’re cheering on a loved one, soaking in the history, or simply reveling in the spirit of community, your presence will make this night unforgettable. For those under 16, a parent or guardian must accompany you. ID is required to consume alcohol.
